In the 1740s and 1750s the rococo style of tongs were to be seen aplenty.
These included the naturalistic style seen here - very often associated with sets of six, or more, teaspoons and fashioned in silver, silver gilt or even, on rare occasions, in gold!                              The majority of Tongs in this style were unmarked but those produced in the nineteenth century were fully marked.
